CHAPTER 4.00 - CURRICULUM AND INSTRUCTION

4.101 General Education Development Test 

Section 6A-6.21, State Board of Education Rules, provides that adults may earn a high school equivalency diploma by passing the General Education Development (GED) test. In addition students who are enrolled in the regular day school program and who are eighteen (18) years of age or older may elect to take the GED test as an alternative to attendance in grades 9-12.


(1) In cases of extraordinary circumstances, as determined by the Superintendent or designee the student could elect to take the test at age sixteen (16).


(2) Upon successful completion of the test the student is given a high school equivalency diploma by the Department of Education and is considered a high school graduate.
